In May, we launched FSF University, our new digital learning platform, reunited with Scholars and Alumni in Los Angeles, and joined a global conversation on AI and the fashion workforce. Keep reading for highlights, links, and photos from everything we were up to in May.
FSF UNIVERSITY LAUNCHES
At the Fashion Scholarship Fund, we believe that talent is everywhere and that everyone should have access. That’s why we’re proud to announce that FSF University, a new digital learning platform created in partnership with Arizona State University and ASU FIDM, is officially live. Designed for students of all academic backgrounds and school affiliations, FSF University gives applicants the tools to research, structure, and complete their FSF Case Study at their own pace. The free, self-paced curriculum is composed of three foundational modules on the FSF application process and case study fundamentals.
The remaining four FSF University modules, customized by discipline, build on the foundation laid in the introductory modules, offering step-by-step guidance through research, concept development, and writing. Each module includes interactive content, assignments, and insights from past FSF Scholars to help students create standout submissions.
As Marie Colletta, Head of Education Programs, shares: “Through FSF University’s seven on-demand modules, you’ll learn everything you need—from choosing your discipline to researching, drafting, and submitting your case study. The best part? You can work at your own pace, anytime, anywhere.”
FSF ALUMNI EVENT IN LA
Scholars, Alumni, and friends came together for an evening of connection and conversation, co-hosted with ASU FIDM. Guests heard from Christina Frank, curator at the ASU FIDM Museum, and Jess Cuevas, multimedia artist and art director for Willy Chavarria, who spoke candidly about creativity, identity, and career growth. PETER ARNOLD AT THE WSJ FUTURE OF EVERYTHING FESTIVAL
FSF Executive Director Peter Arnold joined Gena Smith from LVMH and Ray Smith from WSJ onstage at the Future of Everything Festival to discuss how AI is transforming the fashion workforce. The panel explored how technology is reshaping hiring, upskilling, and internal mobility across the industry.
Peter shared how FSF is preparing students for this evolution, ensuring they have the technical knowledge, critical thinking skills, and creative perspective to lead in a fast-changing landscape. For example, this year’s Case Study prompt, which focused on fashion and digital technology, drew more than 1,500 applicants whose submissions tackled topics like AI personalization, virtual retail, adaptive design, and wearables.
The key takeaway was clear: While AI can enhance how we work, it’s human creativity, empathy, and problem-solving that remain essential. Watch the whole conversation here.
